Home Repairs

We have been busy doing small touch ups on our house so someone will pay top $ for it. Here are some cute pictures of the dry walling we've been working on.

Daniel thinks everything Dad does is amazing...especially when it comes to tools!

Friday Surprise

This morning we woke up to rainy, cold weather. I racked my brain for things to do with two 2 year old boys for 4hours (I trade babysitting with a friend so we can get some projects done). I pretty much came to the conclusion my house was going to look like a toy bomb had exploded.

Right before my friend dropped her son off at my house, the most marvelous sight drove up and stationed themselves in front of our house....a backhoe and dump truck team. Daniel LOVES construction trucks. The two boys spent a lot of time watching the trucks work (we even went out in the rain to get a closer look). Eventually, the toy bomb did explode.

Each boy grabbed a a toy truck to take outside while watching the trucks.

And We're Off

Many of you might know I grew up moving about every three years. My longest stay in one place was 3 1/2 years in South Florida. We have been living in Richmond for 3 years now. I thought I would break my 3 1/2 year record here, but alas, I will merely tie the record because we are moving to.....

BOSTON!

So, here is the nerdy explanation for the move. Christian works for a company called National Instruments (not to be confused with Texas Instruments). National Instruments (NI), makes test and measurement hardware and software that engineers and scientists (i.e. nerds) go gaga over. So if you haven't heard of the company, and don't really understand terms like "test and measurement", "virtual instrumentation", or "industrial automation" don't worry. That just means you are not a nerd! Christian will be focusing on developing the industrial automation accounts in the Northeast. Hence, the move to Boston..

In layman's terms, Christian got a promotion within the company and now we are moving.

We are super excited about the move. We will miss the little life we have set up here in Richmond. We have met and befriended amazing people who have broadened our perspectives and understandings as well as challenged our ideas. I feel like we have discovered a lot of truth about life here and I'm grateful for the time we have spent here. Thank goodness for blogs, emails, cell phones, and digital cameras! There are so many people we want to keep in touch with.

Growing Up

Daniel fell asleep on the couch today. I had to sit there and watch him for a while. I can't believe how he's grown. I looked at some older pictures of him and thought I'd post a couple of cute ones over the last 2 1/2 years.

I'll stop there even though I want to add more. I have so many great memories. I'm excited for what the future holds!

Tagged Again

April tagged me with this one. These tags kind of remind me of the chain letters I used to get as a kid. I still get the email chain letters, but I don't forward them on. Sorry, I just have that policy. Here goes...

What is his name? Christian Emil Hahn

How long have you been married? 4 years in May

How long did you date? A little over a year

Who eats more sweets? We both like a good treat, but I probably eat more sweets

Who said "I love you" first? I did

Who is taller? Christian...he is 6'3" and I'm 5'10"

You can't really see the height difference in this picture. I can't remember what shoes I was wearing.

Who can sing better? Neither of us, but Christian did take a singing class at BYU and I took voice lessons in high school. However, neither one of us are solo material. We do have other musical talents though. For example, Christian can play Chinese Chopsticks upside down and backwards on the piano. He's also a harmonicist. I can play the piano and the violin.

Who is smarter? Me of coarse! I'm only kidding. I actually think we both are. We both have different training and ways of thinking, but our best decisions have been the ones where we both brought our thoughts and understanding to the table and reasoned through the issue.

Who does the laundry? I do, but Christian usually helps me fold the last batch I haven't gotten to by the end of the day...so I save the whites for last since they are my least favorite to fold, but he prefers folding the whites!

Who pays the bills? I do. I track our budget/money in Quicken and Christian tracks it in Excel. It is a pretty good system.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Christian for now. We've switched back and forth a couple of times.

Who mows the lawn? All of us...even Daniel.

Who cooks dinner? Usually I do unless we are having Chinese food or eggs.

Who drives? Both of us...it usually depends on who knows how to get to our destination and if we feel like adjusting the drivers seat (Christian's arms are way longer than mine).

Who is more stubborn? Christian

Who kissed who first? Christian and I was totally surprised. I had given up on him kissing me (it took 5 months) and so when he did, I was shocked.

I know this picture grosses my brother out (and probably all of you), but I love it!

Who asked who out first? Christian, but there is a story to this. We went to the lake to ride jet skis for our first date. However, when I showed up at the lake I realized Christian was on a date with another girl (she had asked him to join her and her FAMILY for a day at the lake)!

Who proposed? Christian

Who has more siblings? Christian, he has three sisters and I have one brother and one sister.

Christian's Family

My family, it is a 2004 picture, I couldn't find anything more recent...sad!

When I was looking for a family picture I came across this gem! This is my brother Tim with Spanish hot chocolate oozing out of his teeth. Sometimes Tim counts as more than one sibling, so maybe I have more siblings.

Who wears the pants? We both do, but I usually wear a skirt on Sundays for three hours.

I tag Aimee, Holly, and Stacey

Our Week in Words...No Pictures

Maybe they should quarantine the Hahn house since we have all been sick this week. I didn't want to post any sick pictures because they are so unattractive. I guess the timing of this illness couldn't have worked out better though. I was sick on Saturday and so Christian was able to help out with Daniel. Today, Sunday, is Christian's bad day, but he is hoping everything will be better by tomorrow for the regular work week. Poor Daniel though. It is taking his little body a little longer to heal. He is a trooper though and still finds the energy to run around outside. Hopefully next week we'll have better news to report!

Other happenings this week included a fun Valentines date. Christian and I went to the Richmond Symphony. It was unlike any other concert I've been too. Everyone in the symphony was wearing jeans! There was no assigned seating and a lot of people were just standing around drinking a beer while listening to the music...definitely not a typical performance, but very enjoyable. I love going to the symphony! I like to sit close enough to the string section so I can see the musicians' fingers move (weird huh?!?!?).

Christian had a guys morning out yesterday with some friends. They went target shooting and it sounded like an enjoyable morning. Anyways, one of the guys who went had an AK-47. Needless to say, Christian dreamed about an AK-47 last night. Does anyone else have weird dreams when they are sick?

I have a list of projects I'm trying to get done before the baby is born and have been trying to mark some of them off the list. A lot of them deal with organizing things to help ease the transition from one to two children. I am working on this little invention though that I get so excited about. I have some good things going with it even though I seem to hit dead ends every once in a while. I guess one of the best things about it is I'm learning a lot in the process. I'm learning things I never would have if I just came up with an idea but never pursued it.

Sunday Afternoon

When I first saw Daniel playing in the walker he used to use I had two thoughts:

1. Yabadaba doooooo! (the Flintstones)
2. Tommy Boy sining about the fat man in a little coat (not that Daniel is fat, but he obviously doesn't fit in this walker anymore!)

When Mom Leaves

Daniel loves Christian. He loves how Christian plays with him...especially since Christian can make real sounding truck and animal noises. Daniel especially loves how Christian will wrestle with him. During the day Daniel will always ask for Daddy and it makes me wonder if he ever misses me that much when I'm gone. After all, I still wrestle and play with him all day long during the week.

If you've ever wondered why Dad's are so novel to their kids, I found photgraphic evidence of what really happens when mom leaves the house...BRIBERY!

You can't really tell in the pictures, but Daniel is sporting a new haircut. This is his first real haircut besides a quick mullet trim a couple of months ago.

Tagged

I have been so slow to blog lately and then I got tagged and it has taken me a while to finally put some things together. I feel like this entry about me is going to be so boring. But at the end I get to tag others I want to know more about so here goes.

Sorry, I don't have any pictures as a kid, but here is a fun more current one.

What were you doing 10 years ago?
  • I was a freshman at BYU living in the dorms and doing all the usual college activities (football games, volleyball games, school, working, a disproportionate amount of time socializing, dances, etc.). I enjoyed every year at school, but this was definitely the most carefree, fun, and irresponsible year. Thank goodness I at least maintained my grades.
Five things on my to do list
  • Research some patent information (something about pregnancy gets my creative juices flowing)
  • Work on the Java class I've been taking (I told you this was going to be boring)
  • Get our tax information together
  • Clean out my closet
  • Finish the book I'm reading "Discover Your Inner Economist"
Things I would do if I was suddenly made a billionaire
  • Pay off our house
  • Buy a grand piano and build a fun music/library room on the house
  • Donate to the Perpetual Education Fund
  • Save the rest...maybe I should start buying gold or wheat with the way the economy is going.
Three of my bad habits (why are people including this?!?!?!?!)
  • I bite my nails
  • That's all I feel comfortable publishing online!
Five places I have lived
  • Austin, TX
  • Guadalajara, Mexico
  • Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • Campinas, Brazil
  • Ft. Lauderdale, FL
Five jobs I have had
  • Ride operator at Lagoon
  • Swim Instructor/Coach
  • Library worker (what got me through college)
  • Taco Cabana (Mexican fast food...I worked there for 2 weeks with my brother and had a blast!)
  • International Marketing for National Instruments
Things people don't know about me
  • I have been sky diving four times
  • When it is cold outside I drink hot water
  • I mix up words a lot...big, socially awkward mix ups (syphilis and scabies, gonorrhea and giardia, promiscuous and rambunctious...just to name a few)
  • I was painfully shy as a child
  • I really liked Star Trek growing up
I tag April, Liz, Angela, and Tasha
