Patriots Day

Patriots Day is one of my favorite days.
To bad I didn't take my camera along to the festivities.

Insert picture of amazing and inspiring marathoners.

Insert picture of hot dog roast with some of our favorite people.

Insert picture of farm fresh ice cream and friends at Kimballs.

Insert picture of dirty, worn out but smiling kids.

But if you want to see some pictures, check out this, and this.

Their favorite part...the canons.

Finding Treasure

To keep the troops entertained at The Butterfly Place,

they had to find all the different types of butterflies pictured on the card.

It was a moving scavenger hunt.

Happy Birthday James

 Dear James,

I think the world of you my little boy.  You amaze me.  Every time I turn around, I am in awe of your courage and determination to master and enjoy life in the most pure and simple ways.  I love your enthusiasm.  I love your soul...it is pure love and goodness bottled up in a little boy with freckles on his nose.

I love how you can laugh at yourself and see the good and joy in almost every situation.  I love how excited you get over the little things...like going for a bike ride, chasing chickens, building a gun, and snuggling up on the couch to a book.

You are brave.  You drink deeply of life's experiences.  You are a ponderer.  You teach me more than I could ever teach myself.  I love you James.  I really love you!

love,

Mom

Down and Derby

What more could an 8 year old ask for?
Best buddies,
hot dogs,
unlimited access to the dessert table,
and building a car.

1st place was just a little bonus.

To My Future Self

Hello?  Is there anyone out there?
I doubt it.
I've abandoned this blog, but I've decided to come back, and write to my future self.
There are just so many things I want to always remember.

I want to always remember the time James found two fresh eggs in the coop, then put them in his pant pockets, and then went and jumped on the trampoline.  I also want to remember how James can tear it up on skis down the mountain and make it to the top of the rock climbing wall.

And I want to remember how Caleb chases the chickens for hours each day, grabs their tail feathers, and then pins them.

And I never want to forget Daniel's first cello concert, or seeing him out-ski me.

And then there is Anna, who thinks 50 degrees is swim suit weather and she can't get enough bike riding in in a day.

Mostly, I just want to remember how bright and colorful life is.

Birds and Bees

We've got Popcorn, Bubbles, Chubby, Coco, Cheepers, Sunshine, and Red.

There were just too many of these ladies to name.
Now, the females out number the males in our house...by a long shot.
