What We Did This Week

I haven't posted in a while. My posts would be very boring although we have been having a lot of fun. It would go something like this:
  • Monday: Swimming
  • Tuesday: Swimming
  • Wednesday: Beach
  • Thursday: Zoo/Swimming
  • Friday: Swimming
So there you have it. We are in the thick of beach, pool, watermelon, and popsicle season. Is it disgusting that my kids only take a bath on Saturday night? I figure the chlorine keeps the bacteria at bay.

In between our summer activities, we have been doing "mom school". We are learning about the ocean...so we have an excuse to go all the time.

.8 Miles

The Starting Line

Here is Daniel finishing the race.
The video is not so entertaining.
It is really just for the grandparents.

But I love the grin on his face!

Mom Summer Camp: Day 4

Today was beach day.

We found the best beach...Good Harbor
It had:
Crystal clear, cool water,

white sand, and

challenging, but negotiable waves.

Both kids told me separately,

"Mom, I just love this!"

That does my heart good.
I love the beach too.
It takes me back to my childhood.
We used to go to the beach every Christmas.
(In S. America Christmas is during the summer, and it is always beach weather in FL and Mexico)
Once, we camped at the beach for a week.
We came back with sunburned lips!

We did have a little accident today.
I made Daniel walk back to the car like a penguin.
He just thought it was funny.
It was slow going though.

Mom Summer Camp: Day 3

Today we picked blueberries.
4 lbs actually.
It rained on us.
But that made it more fun.

He was inefficient.

What did I give them for picking 1/2lb of berries and eating 1lb?
That's right, more farm fresh ice cream.

It seems I planned summer camp around all the good ice cream spots.

Mom Summer Camp: Day 2

Summer camp today consisted of:
field games (not such a hit)
fishing (hit)
archery (hit)
swimming (hit)
arts & crafts (not such a hit)

No summer camp is complete without archery.
It did not disappoint.

The craft
Our town puts on a "free" arts & crafts thing every week.
"Free" for the thousands of dollars we pay in taxes.
Funny how that works.

But this is a commentary on summer camp,
not political issues.

Mom Summer Camp: Day 1

Welcome to Mom's Summer Camp
Today: miniature golf and bumper boats at Kimball's Farm.

Waiting to start.

Tackle golf on hole 7

This is what went down on hole 11.
And I let them.

BB's (bumper boats)

And we topped it off with some ice cream.

Tomorrow should be interesting.
The line-up:

fishing
archery
arts & crafts
field games

and of coarse

swimming.

But we do that every day.

Stowe, Vermont

This weekend we left the world behind and let the wind take us on our adventures.

Finders Keepers

Do you remember this chair I re-upholstered?
I found it in the garbage.

Check out all these Legos.
I found them in the garbage.

This little cradle was left out for the garbage truck too.
It needed a little TLC,
but nothing a little paint and sewing couldn't fix.

Tomorrow is garbage day!

4th of July

006

Just waiting for the fireworks.

008

We were too enamored with the show to remember to take any pictures.  Now, Daniel wants fireworks at his birthday party.

It was neat to reflect on all the things that went down right there in Boston to make Independence possible.  I’m very grateful.

So Delicious

I wanted to curl up next to him.

Chores

The lawn is mowed

The fridge is full

The house is clean

The laundry is done.

Can it just stay that way? Pretty please?
