Little Seeds

This is the year of the garden.
Hopefully a very bounteous one.
In hopes of being able to eat warm, sun ripened tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, sweet beets and all other things delicious, we dug up part of our front lawn.
We found the cutest thing growing in it...

No wait, they dug a trap!

James is a little too excited.

 Caleb is crawling!
At the tender age of 7 months.
That is young for our family.

Watch out world.
Argh!
Next step... calculus.

Berry Much in Love

James loves berries.

I love James.

Siblings

I came in from my run to find Daniel pushing Caleb around in his "car".
Life is so rich and colorful with siblings.

117th Boston Marathon

I am heartbroken and sick to my stomach over what happened today at the Boston Marathon finish line.  But I wanted the world to know that a lot of good and happiness happened out there today too.

I am moved by the spirit and dedication of the marathoners.  I love the courage of the marathoner.  Today among all the brave runners, I saw blind runners, amputees, wheelchairs, wheelchair pushers, people running in memory of others, people running after having raised money for charities, people who have dedicated a lot of time to training and have qualified!  It is inspiring.

The other inspiring thing is the crowd.  You will not see a Boston Marathoner walking.  The crowd will cheer them on and give them a pat on the back to keep going.  The crowd lines both sides of the street for 26 miles...and not just lines, but is like 4-6 people deep, and even more in some parts.  That is awesome!

There was a lot of love at mile 19.  Anna was loving on Caleb.  They enjoyed a little sibling wrestle on the blanket.  Daniel and James loved holding cups of water up for the runners.  They were so thrilled when a runner picked their cup.  I loved being their with my kids and friends on a beautiful day.  I was inspired...and I kind of got the marathon itch.

There was a lot of love and goodness out there starting on the streets in Hopkinton and ending on Boylston in Boston.

When Anna's Happy, Everyone's Happy

 barefeet + t-shirt + capris + snow + watergun = Anna Bliss

I think it is one of those proofs you don't try and prove.
Like time dilation.
Does that explain why the age of the earth according to the Bible is 13 days (ish) but science says its 4.5 billion?

This is getting too deep for a family blog.

Slumber Party

When Dad is out of town,
the rest of the crew moves in.
I actually love it, warm little bodies all curled up, safe and sound.

My Castle is Perfect

Finally, after 2 years of searching, we got new chairs.
I love them!

That also means...
...we have a really awesome fort in our backyard.

Happy Birthday Jamesy

 Dear Jamesy,

If I could bottle up your little five-year-old self I would.  I would bottle up your giggle.  Then, I could open it up years down the road.  It would make me laugh it is so contagious.  I would also bottle up the light in your eyes.  When I open that bottle up, it will help me trust more and be corageous.

How could I not bottle up your enthusiasm?  It is energizing.  And your happiness is calming.   Your little five-year-old tears are sweet and tender, and your smell...it makes me want to muzzle right up in your neck and breathe the fresh chill.

I don't know how I was blessed to be your mom.  The depth of your soul is so great.  I am in awe of how much life is packaged in such a cute little boy.  I'm so proud to be "James' mom".

I hope all your birthday wishes and dreams come true little one.

love,

Mom

SWAT

I looked out the window and what did I see?
Two SWAT police hiding behind a tree.

All I can say is our castle is well protected.
Ain't no bad guy comin' round here.
If there was, he'd be met by a very menacing Trio bazooka gun,
an airsoft gun,
and two tender heart SWAT police.

Well, not tender hearted enough to not shoot each other today with the airsoft gun.
All in the name of "tactical weapons training".

I'm Back

I only have excuses for not blogging.
I'll spare you the list.

Check out James' face.
It just makes me laugh.
