Abraham Lincoln and Cahokia

After we got off the plane in Chicago,
we packed lots of stuff and lots of people into two small cars.
Then we drove past lots of corn and soybeans.
Then we passed more corn, and more soybeans.
Finally we arrived in Sprinfield, IL.

Springfield is not only the capital of IL,
but it also can boast because the residence,

law offices, and burial spot of Abraham Lincoln
landmark it.

Because we felt we hadn't seen enough corn, we got back in our packed cars and drove to

Cahokia!

Have you ever heard of it?
It is amazing!
It is an ancient Indian city just North of St. Louis.
It dates back to 600 AD!
Now I lived in Mexico for a while, and I saw all the Aztec ruins,
but I had no idea that such an archeological treasure existed in the United States.

It was hot at Cahokia, and no one liked the little pebbles in their shoes,
so we decided to get back in the car and drive past more corn and soybeans until we got...
...to the "Beautiful City".
