Hung Up To Dry

Our community pool closed on Friday. We were pool bums this summer. Besides our little stint in Utah, we went to the pool every sunny day. Now I'm going to have to figure out what to do with all our time.

Home Sweet Home

Christian met us at the airport with flowers and balloons.

When I walked in the door, the house was spotless.

The fridge was stalked.

I had to pinch Christian just to make sure he was real.

With all that done, I still haven't been able to get out of my pj's before 10am.

I'm turning over a new leaf this week.

The Desert Summer

Alas our desert vacation is drawing to a close. These cowboys are saddling up their horses and packs and riding off. Ok, so we are really going to pack our suitcases and get on a plane, but riding off into the sunrise sounds like a better ending to our desert summer stay.

This guy is already at home.
I miss him.
I can't wait to see him again.
He is guarding the castle.
I really like this picture of him.
I looked at it every night before bed while we were apart.

Boston here we come.
We've missed you, but not your rain.
Maybe you could be more like the desert...every-once-in-a-while.
My skin has missed your rich humidity.
Every time I put on lotion, I feel like my skin drinks it up like a thirsty camel.

An Art Form I Can Do

A couple months ago my mom took a stained glass making class. She had so much fun, she wanted the rest of us to learn. So Joan and I took the class together. I loved it. I especially loved taking the class with my sister.

Hard at work

Our first pieces.
Now I just have to figure out what to make next.

13,528 ft

I was the head of the party planning committee for our 5th wedding anniversary celebration. In my mind, the stars aligned for a backpacking trip...I have always wanted to backpack, we were headed out to Utah for a wedding, we have no nursing baby, and my parents were willing to watch our kids (bless them). So we packed up our packs and headed for the top of Utah...Kings Peak. Thanks to my new digital watch, here is a little play by play of the trip.

09:57 - Henry Fork's Trailhead

13:11 - Lunch and first try with the water filter

13:35 - Out of the treeline

15:47 - Top of Gunsight Pass

17:30 - Set up camp a stone's throw from Anderson's Pass, eat a gourmet freeze dried dinner, discuss summit-ting that evening but not knowing when the sun sets or if the brewing clouds were a hail-storm in the making we decide to summit in the morning, splitting head-ache sets in.

19:00 - Go to bed. We had not books, no fishing pole, and no energy. It was freezing. We were not prepared. Little did we know that was the beginning of a miserable, altitude-sickness night.

06:00 - Wake up to a light snow dusting on the tent. Pack up and head out.

If we don't look well-rested, it is because we aren't...and we are sick.

13:00 - Wobble to the car and head straight for Arby's.

And finally, here is the parting shot. I love this picture. I think my husband looks HOTT!

PS: I'm officially kicked off the 10th wedding anniversary party planning committee.

A Day in the Slammer

I was the Pied Piper last week. I reassured parents and grandparents I would take care of their little ones while they finished wedding preparations. Little do they know this is where the children ended up.

I decided to bribe them on the way home from the jail. I didn't want any stories getting out about the wicked aunt that I am. I have to uphold my image.

The bribe seemed to work. CPS has not knocked on my door yet.

Down on the Farm

Right after I took this picture, this mama cow stuck her tongue on James' chin and proceeded to lick upward to his forehead. I suppose she was trying to get a taste off the mandarin orange basted baby.
